“With his wife’s disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it’s suspected that he may not be innocent.”
Firstly David Fincher is the master of tension. From start to finish this movie is tense and gripping and keeps your attention for all of its long ass 2 and a half hours. But, this movie is really also an array of brilliant acting. Rosamund Pike, jesus Christ what a show, what a performance. I can’t imagine her not getting an Oscar nomination for this, she’s absolutely brilliant. The second surprising performance here is from Tyler Perry. He plays his role to a T and is really nice injection of balance. All the acting is honestly really good, really, really good. This movie is a slow burn, and that coupled with the length may put off some viewers, but it’s not the movies fault if you have the attention span of a dead house fly. This movie is so dark, intense, twisted and gripping that you can’t help but give it all your attention and mutter curses under your breathe when the proverbial shit hits the fan. If you want to see the best thriller so far of the year, then look no further. My biggest possible gripe with this movie, is that you don’t get closure. Not so much in a way that to say that the story wasn’t ended, but more the fact that it might not have ended the way you wanted, or with the outcome you hoped for. Side note, gaddamn Emily Ratajkowski is fioneee, lol but no I’m officially scared of women now.
