Review : Seventh Son

“Young Thomas is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away.”

Problems, this movie has a lot of them. Firstly Jeff Bridges has this ridiculous and atrocious accent, that truly has no need to exist, but it does and all it does is pull you out of the movie experience. Many times there is an issue or situation meant to be very serious, but you just can’t take it serious because of that accent. Then the characters don’t make sense at all. Most of them are these super powerful army killing monsters, that then get killed like idiots for no reason. Master assassins that didn’t kill anyone but were killed by untrained people. All a big ridiculous. Even Academy Award Winning Julianne Moore is horrible here. I’d love to know what the direction they were giving for these characters. The story itself is also super convenient and predictable. This is another example of film makers having a great world to use to build a story and simply having no idea what to do with it.
