“Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
Ant-Man is the latest in the now long running films that make up the Marvel cinematic universe. It features Paul Rudd as the title character, and you may be like hmm, Paul Rudd, isn’t he a comedian, and you wouldn’t be wrong, but let me explain. So this movie is one of the bigger departures we have seen since the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Winter Soldier, where those movies were very different in tone and type. The Winter Soldier was really a political thriller, in the same way, this movie is a heist movie, with a lot of well done comic relief.Thats not to say however, that this movie doesn’t also have its full comic book action side. This movie on a whole does feel a lot smaller than the other Marvel movies, but not in a bad way either. It gives us a story that takes place in the same world of the Avengers, but without needing to have stakes so high that everyone would be asking why aren’t the avengers here. The cast on a whole here i think was really, really well done. Everyone really added a lot of feeling and weight to their characters, that gave the movie a much more relatable and personal feel. Overall, if you are a fan of these Marvels movies, you may have a few problems with this movie when you compare it with the other movies. As just the single Ant-Man film however, it really is very well done, and it is also really nice to see these movies go into different territories. Btw, there are two different end credits scenes (a mid and post credit scene), so make sure and stay till the very end.
