“As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant leader of the rebellion, must bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.”
The end to the Hunger Games series…Yes. A fitting conclusion…Maybe. The explosive finally…No. The final chapter in the Hunger Games franchise is finally here, and its a mixed bag indeed. The good is that, there is still all he tension and suspense from part 1 of this two-parter, and it does pick up right where the first left off. The pacing of this movie though does mirror the first, but it also has some dead spots that drag the film to a crawl at times. Also the Katniss, Peeta and Gale love triangle we have had since the start, really starts to run thin in this movie, to the point where i feel those scenes could have been cut and helped streamline the movie. The action scenes when they do happen however are very well done. They do feel very much like the stakes are very high, and they mirror the brutality of the games. Those games however, were really always going to be the make or break part of these last two instalments. The lack of the games seems most evident in this movie, as it in itself seems like just an extended second half to a movie, rather than something that was truly needed to tell this story in the best possible way. All in all the Hunger Games franchise goes out on a bit a whimper, rather than a bang.
