“The former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed.”
Creed is in a way, the Rocky movies hand over to a new lead character for a possible new franchise, and with a start like this, they probably will have one. First of this is a boxing movie, so lets talk about the boxing. The actual training and fighting is really done very well here, there is even a scene that was done in a way I had never seen before in a boxing movie. Michael B. Jordan is also great in the role. He certainly beefed up, and put in all the work to be able to walk and talk and look the part here. The real stand out here actually, is good ole Rocky himself. Sylvester Stallone really gives us probably his best acting performance to date in this movie. It seems fitting that after his first Academy award nomination for Rocky, that he may be up for a second nomination for possibly his last Rocky movie. The supporting cast here is great too. Everyone no matter how big or small their role is, just fits into the world created by the movie. One of the best boxing or sports movies in recent times, and probably the soon to be recipient of an oscar nomination or two, Creed is definitely worth the money to see on the big screen.
