Review : Captain America – Civil War

“Political interference in the Avengers’ activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man.”

Thats a pretty simple way to describe what this movie is about, but it really is much deeper. This movie really builds on about 8 years of Marvel movies and lore (based on those movies, and that really matters when we get to this movie) that add up to a lot of the emotional weight this movie tries to throw around. Lets address what would be everyone’s biggest concern first. Does this movie live up to the title? Yes and no. Firstly, if you’re going to be a big comparer of the movie with its comic book counter part, you are going to be disappointed. This movie does a very good job at building its own civil war based on the lore the movies themselves have made. Its only a fraction of the comic book movie story line, and I think it really had to be, but again, its going to disappoint some people. The real stand outs of the cast here are both new characters. Black Panther and Spider-Man are really, really well done here. I mean hats off to Marvel, but these are some of best character representations I’ve ever see and I’m really impressed by them. The next most impressive thing about this movie, is the action. The action in this movie is absolutely outstanding, and some of the best, if not the best we’ve ever seen in any of the Marvel movies thus far. The airport scene is really a thing to behold. There are so many moving parts of this movie also, I can’t cover them without a lot of spoilers, so I’m just going to say it was a mixed bag (more good than bad). Overall I think this is a very good movie, that depending on your expectations, you’d enjoy more or less than the Winter Soldier movie. Scoring this movie is hard, because its not being rated in a bubble, so i really have to take inconsideration the other movies in this universe, but all in all i really did enjoy this movie.

Review Score 8.5 out of 10
